This package is for you if you are in your second trimester of your pregnancy. You are feeling better and you are wanting to start preparing your body for labor early in your pregnancy. Tupler Technique® Perfect Pushing® Video will teach you how to strengthen your abdominal muscles with the 4 step Tupler Technique®. For your pushing to be effective, you need to have strong abdominal muscles that can push for as long as necessary without tiring as well as knowing how to use them separately from your pelvic floor muscles. Then in labor you can push with your strengthened and splinted abdominal muscles while relaxing your pelvic floor muscles. For more infomation about this video click here. The Tupler Technique® Guidebook will give you a summary of the 4 steps and also a daily chart with how many of the exercises you should be doing every day. For more information about the guidebook click here. The Diastasis Rehab Splint® is one of the 4 steps of the Tupler Technique® and can be worn safely during pregnancy. We recommnend wearing it in your second trimester when you are feeling better. The pad of the Short Torso Splint will stay the same during pregnancy. However, the arms of the short torso splint will need to get longer to accommodate for your growing belly. The Extenders are the solution to making the arms of your short torso splint longer. For more information about the Extenders click here. The Coming Contractions Cd will prepare you for the first stage of labor in terms of dealing with the pain. If you listen to this tape every day for a couple of weeks, then relaxation will be more second nature when you listen to it during labor. For more information about the Coming Contractions CD click here.
18 Week Ongoing Online Support Program: I realized that many people bought the package and did not do it or were not as successful as they could have been if they had had support. So I created this 18 week ONGOING support program to support everyone doing the program on an ongoing basis. You can repeat weeks and start over as many times as you like. Since this is a program I want you to do the rest of your life, I want it to be available for you as long as I am alive and in business! I will be doing live webinars once a month to answer all your questions. These will be recorded and posted on the program site. Each week there will be a video ( or two) to watch, Tupler Tips and a blog where you can communicate with others doing the program. This is the place to share your experience and ask for support. I highly recommend reaching out and getting a belly buddy to work with. This makes the program more fun and more effective as you always work harder when you are accountable to someone else! After you purchase this package you will get an automatic email with instructions how to join the program. If you do not get an email, check your spam first. Then let us know and we will send you another email. I look forward to supporting you with my program. Julie
Purpose of Diastasis Rehab Short Torso Splint®
The purpose is to “position” both the connective tissue and the muscles. It takes the stretch off the connective tissue putting it in a better position to heal. By bringing the muscles closer together you are able to feel your muscles working better thus making the exercises more effective as they will move in a backward position instead of sideways. Our splint will not weaken your abdominal muscles. The purpose of other abdominal binders is "compression" or bringing your abdominals back towards your spine. That is the job of you innermost transverse abdominal muscle. Once you strengthen your transverse muscle with the
Tupler Technique® exercises your transverse muscle can be your compression binder!
Wearing a Diastasis Rehab Splint® is just ONE of the 4 steps of the Tupler Technique® Program. You must do the other 3 steps taught in the Diastasis Rehab video to close your diastasis. The guidebook then supports you in doing the program on a daily basis. If you are just wearing your splint and not doing the exercises you will not close your diastasis. You need to wear your splint until the connective tissue is shallow.
Please wear your splint all the time. Even when you sleep. Take it off to bathe for 15 minutes. If you broke your leg you would have to wear the cast all the time to continuously keep the two separated ends of the bone together so they heal. It is the same with connective tissue. You must continuously keep it in the same narrow position so it heals. You will know it has healed when it is shallow and you can't feel the muscles grabbing your fingers when you check it.

Instructions for converting the original splint to the short torso splint
Wear your splint all the time except while bathing. Can be worn over a fitted undergarment or directly on skin The way you move your body will affect how the splint stays in place. When getting up and down from a seated to standing position or when bending over, always move with a flat back. Arching or rounding your back will make it move out of place.
Contraindications For Wearing a Splint
If you have a medical condition and are under doctor’s care please speak to your doctor about wearing a short torso splint and doing our program. Many physicians do not know about our research and evidence based program. So if you email us, we are glad to speak with your doctor about our program to see if it is appropriate for you. There are many ways to “modify” our program for many medical conditions. This splint can be worn during pregnancy. We recommend starting to wear it in your second trimester when you are feeling better. Wearing a splint can cause nausea which is a common symptom in your first trimester. The exercises, however, can be started in the first trimester.
With some medical conditions it is better to hold a splint (scarf or arms of sweater) when doing the seated and back lying exercises instead of wearing our Diastasis Rehab Splint®. When you bring the two separated muscles together you will be putting the displaced abdominal organs back to their original position. This may cause pressure on the organs above (heart) and below (pelvic floor) them. So if you have any heart conditions it is best to not wear a short torso splint. If you have any type of prolapses you can wear your splint if you do not feel any pressure in your pelvic floor. If you do feel pressure, then just "hold" short torso splint when doing the seated or back lying exercises. If you are wearing the splint, make sure you do not put it on too tight. Also make sure when you do the exercises that you do the following:
1. Count out loud. Holding your breath puts pressure on both the pelvic floor and weak connective tissue joining the abdominal muscles.
2. Engage both the abdominal and the pelvic floor muscles at the same time when doing the seated and back lying exercises
3. Decrease the repetitions of the seated contracting exercise repetitions when doing the contracting exercises from 100 to 25 or less.
Please stand in front of a mirror when putting on your short torso splint so you put it on correctly. Please limit taking on and off the short torso splint to no more than 3-4 times a day. Continuously pulling the hook velcro off the loop velcro will prevent it from sticking. Velcro does wear out. That is the nature of velcro if you overuse it. The hook part of the velcro takes away the filaments on the loop part of the velcro. So adjust it instead of pulling the hook off the loop.
Problems Wearing a Diastasis Rehab Splint®
The area being splinted is a difficult area to splint because it is between two sets of bones. The ribcage on top and the pelvis on the bottom.
So it will be difficult to keep it in place. Wearing it over a fitted undergarment or t-shirt seems and also velcroing the bottom arm of the short torso splint to your undergarment seems to help. It is also immportant to stand up and sit down or bend over with a flat back.
Know that you will have to adjust your splint. If you are short-waisted or have large hips it will be more difficult to keep it in place. So you may want to get two of our short torso splints. Two will give you more coverage and stay in place better.
In week 4 of the program you will be double splinting (wearing one or two splints and also holding a scarf which will bring muscles closer together and make exercises more effective.
If you still have questions relating to your splint please read the FAQ Page.
Splints are NOT returnable.
