California

Cheryl Bjornson

Personal Trainer

Orinda

(San Francisco)
CA, USA

Cheryl has been a certified personal trainer, specializing in pre/postnatal fitness instructor since 2006. She is honored to be the first Licensee in the State of California since 2011.She has been an active athlete her entire life participating in swimming, soccer and high jump growing up, and she played Division 1 NCAA soccer at UCLA. Cheryl has 3 young children and found it relatively easy to get back in shape after pregnancy but found it very difficult to get any positive results in her abdominal area. After having her 2nd child, Cheryl knew she had a significant Diastasis but failed to address it because she was told on countless occasions by fitness and medical professionals that surgery was the only option. She also felt like since she was going to have more children, she should just wait to address the problem which turned out to be a mistake because with each pregnancy a Diastasis gets worse. After having her 3rd child, and trying several core exercise routines including Pilates, yoga, bar based classes, boot camps, crunches, and planks, she found that not only was her belly not getting smaller, it was getting worse!!! She also began to suffer from significant lower back pain. After searching extensively on the Internet and seeing such positive feedback about the Tupler Technique®, she sought the help of Julie Tupler, RN, in the spring. Her Diastasis has gone from a whopping 10-finger separation, to less than a 3-finger separation in less than 10 weeks!!Since learning the Tupler Technique® and incorporating it into her daily routine, Cheryl now realizes that by waiting between each pregnancy and doing core exercises incorrectly, she only made her Diastasis worse. She is determined to educate both women and men who suffer from Diastasis Recti and the ill effects associated with an abdominal separation and help them avoid the same mistakes she made. Tupler Technique® has positively changed her body, the way she exercises and lives her life. She is honored to be the first Licensee in the State of California. She hopes she can share this revolutionary technique with you. Cheryl@abseparationrehab.com || www.abseparationrehab.com

Susan Hawkins LMT

Stamford

Ct, USA

Susan Hawkins is a Licensed Massage Therapist in the state of Connecticut. She is a co-owner of Balance Integrated Health Center in Stamford CT.
At Balance Integrated Health Center, Susan works as part of an interdisciplinary team to create a supportive and educational environment. Their goal is to help you achieve health and balance in your life through a combination of Eastern and Western practices.
For 20+ years prior to this, Susan was the owner of a family run bicycle shop, surrounded by athletes along with their associated injuries. During this time and because of what she witnessed in the shop, Susan's interest in alternative healing, and specifically massage therapy, was piqued. She became inspired to study massage therapy: Using non-invasive soft tissue manipulation to help heal injuries and avoid surgery became her mission.
During a Pre/Post Natal massage class Susan learned about the Tupler Technique®: Healing a diastasis without surgery! Upon meeting the creator of this technique, Julie Tupler, Susan had an epiphany and decided to learn more about it. From her own personal experience she realized that all those years of doing sit-ups and crunches to get rid of her mummy tummy and trying to strengthen her core had not achieved the desired results was due to the fact that she was not doing the right exercises. After only 3 weeks of the Tupler Technique® program, not only did she see results in her waistline, but her lower back pain disappeared, too. Realizing that this was too good to keep to herself, Susan decided incorporate the Tupler technique into her practice.
Susan works with women, men and children to help heal their diastasis. Regardless of when or how it occurred, it’s never too late to heal a diastasis.
Susan is proud to be the first Tupler Technique® Professional Provider in Connecticut.

Illinois

Cheryl Mostowski

Pilates instructor

Algonquin,
IL, USA

Cheryl began her career in the fitness industry because of an injury. After exhausting nearly all methods of traditional medicine, Cheryl was introduced to Pilates and was able to experience firsthand just what core strength could do to help people with unresolved pain. Although a paralegal by profession, she felt called to learn Pilates in order to be able to assist others in their journey to wellness. Cheryl became certified with STOTT PILATES® and opened Inner Strength Pilates, a small studio in Algonquin, Illinois. A few years later, Cheryl encountered a new client who simply could not hold her abdominals in. She knew she could not properly train this client with the knowledge from her pilates methods. After extensive research, Cheryl realized that her client's lack of ability to hold in her abdominals is the classic description of what a diastasis looked like. However, traditional pilates methods would fall short in fixing her client's issue. This is when Cheryl found the Tupler Technique® online. She began doing research as to how the Tupler Technique® worked and encouraged her client to use the Technique as an alternative to surgery. Once Cheryl began seeing results within a few short weeks, she knew she needed to train with Julie Tupler and become a certified instructor in the Tupler Technique®. After beginning training she realized that, although she had worked hard on her abdominal strength, she, too, had a diastasis that needed healing! Thanks to the Tupler Technique®, Cheryl has modified her teaching of core work and is healing her own diastasis. Cheryl is passionate about health and giving individuals the information and training they need to properly use their muscles and bodies as they were designed. Additionally, she's excited to help people become pain free and avoid surgery. She now specializes in using the Tupler Technique® to help men, women, and children restore true core strength by healing a diastasis if they have one. If they do not have a diastasis, she can use the Tupler Technique® in conjunction with proper pilates movements to realign their bodies and become stronger and leaner. Cheryl is also been educated to teach Perfect Pushing®, using the Tupler Technique®, and is excited to work with pre- and post-partum women.

Caroline Johnson

Canton,
MA, USA

Caroline Johnson graduated from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst in 2002, with a dual major in Psychology and Animal Science. A life-long equestrian, she began riding professionally and working as a  licensed riding instructor and horse trainer. Caroline realized that many of her clients were lacking in core strength and so became a certified Power Pilates instructor in order to provide a more well-rounded program for her students. After the birth of her first daughter, Caroline stepped back from the professional horse world and focused more on Pilates and pre-and post-natal fitness. She developed an umbilical hernia and a large 8-finger diastasis after her 3rd pregnancy, which went undiagnosed by medical staff. Having knowledge of diastasis recti from her Pilates training, she realized that she had the condition but was unwilling to have surgery to correct it. Instead, Caroline looked into programs to rehabilitate diastasis recti and found the Tupler Technique®. After closing her diastasis and seeing first-hand the dramatic results that can be achieved from following the program, Caroline was inspired to become a Tupler Technique® professional in order to provide other women with the help and resources to close their diastases and rebuild their cores. The only Tupler Technique® provider in New England, Caroline is most excited about being able to give her clients access to all of the Tupler Technique®’s ground-breaking treatments and much-needed resources to effectively heal diastasis recti.

New Jersey USA

Lauren Buchsbaum has been a licensed Physical Therapist for 13 years. She received her Bachelor of Science in Movement Science from the University of Michigan and then went on to get her Masters in Physical Therapy from Hunter College after having many great experiences volunteering in numerous physical therapy clinics while in undergrad. Lauren has worked in a variety of orthopedic settings including hospital based and outpatient. She has realized over the years that you can't just treat the "one" body part that is painful. She has learned that you must treat the patient has a whole and diagnose where the root cause of injury or dysfunction is. After years of feeling like she was unable to find "the missing link" to some of her patients back and hip pain she discovered the Tupler Technique®. She had just had her third child and was also feeling self conscious of her tummy. Lauren was absolutely amazed with the results and how quickly she was able see a difference. She also enjoyed all the compliments of how great she looked after having 3 kids! Lauren is still very active. She enjoys jogging, yoga and Pilates and has now learned how to safely practice all three while being diastasis safe. Lauren has seen it is never too late to heal and never to early to start to prevent. Lauren is excited to share her knowledge and help her clients.

Jill moved to Manhattan where she started her career at an orthopedics and sports medicine facility. As Jill continued to study and research solutions for women, she discovered the Tupler Technique®. Learning and teaching this technique was a perfect addition to her practice for treating patients suffering from diastasis recti. Jill can speak first hand to the success of the Tupler Technique® after being a patient herself. During her second trimester, Jill religiously followed the protocol. The end results were great she never had back pain, experienced only a minor diastasis, and her abdominal muscles recovered quickly. She also learned the correct pushing techniques and had an easy delivery. Her positive experience has made her an advocate for the Tupler Technique® and has inspired her to help other women.

Dawn Bradbury

Dawn Bradbury

Certified Personal Trainer
Westchester
NY

Dawn was the pregnant lady who was in the gym all the time, lifting weights, doing crunches, planks, etc.  She had the consent of her OB-GYN and as a certified Personal Trainer she knew the ACOG guidelines for pre-natal fitness.  Boy was she wrong!  If only she had known that what she was doing was the exact opposite of what she intended.  After her third child, and third round of major pushing during labor, her doctor made her aware that she had a diastasis recti. He told her it wasn’t worth fixing because she wanted another baby.  After the birth of her fourth child, endless crunches, planks, and boot camp workouts, she now had an 8 finger diastasis recti, umbilical hernia and a belly that still looked pregnant four years later.  Again, the doctor told her it was not worth treating because surgery was the only option.  The Tupler Technique® was the missing link for bringing her muscles together and restoring her core strength. Most of all, finally getting rid of that mummy tummy and umbilical hernia!  It was also the answer that most of her pre and post natal clients were looking for.  If she had known about the Tupler Technique® before her pregnancies, she knows she could have prevented the diastasis recti.  Dawn’s mission to empower women with the understanding of how the core actually works and does not work and in turn help create “a better belly” to lots of women in Westchester.

This led to becoming an instructor and to educate other men and women with Diastasis. It takes hard work and dedication but the end results speak for themselves.

Luanne Sforza, PT, GCFP

Physical therapist

Westchester,
NY

Luanne, physical therapist, graduated from SUNY Buffalo over 35 years ago and has a specialty in orthopedic, musculoskeletal and sports injuries. Her treatment approach is unique in that she is also a certified Feldenkrais practitioner, and skillfully integrates both in her hands-on, patient care. Several years ago Luanne began noticing her own pelvic floor weakness and began taking PT and Feldenkrais courses in the "missing link", the pelvic floor. Incorporating pelvic floor exercises simultaneously with the Tupler Technique® exercises has enabled her to successfully address incontinence and abdominal diastasis. Luanne was fortunate to have given birth to two beautiful children, 25 and 19 years ago. At that time she addressed her own abdominal weakness with core strengthening using Pilate’s equipment and mat classes, as little was known of diastasis recti. Fortunately she met Julie Tupler RN, invited her to lecture at a former PT practice and was quite surprised to learn of having an abdominal diastasis! Wanting to close her diastasis she eventually tried the Tupler Technique® program but did not strictly adhere to the exercise program nor was convinced of the need to wear a splint 24/7. Hence there was no change in her recti diastasis until completing the Tupler Technique® Licensing program and incorporating the full, 4 part program into her own life- splint, exercise and all! Impressed with the visible and measured positive changes in her own belly, her two case studies, and others in her training, Luanne remains convinced that all 4 parts of the Tupler Technique® is necessary to close an abdominal diastasis. And is witness to the fact that it can be achieved no matter how long you have had one! Luanne is the owner of a PT private practice deservedly named, Integrative Physical Therapy originally located in NYC and Westchester. In the early part of 2015 she merged the NYC office with Jill Hoefs, owner of Body Align PT on Union Square, and continues a solo practice at her home in Katonah, N.Y.

Kristen has a passion for seeing her patients achieve optimal function throughout their body. She is a registered Osteopath practicing in Melbourne’s bayside suburb Sandringham. In addition to holding a Masters degree in Osteopathy, she has gone on to do post graduate study in pregnancy related conditions, clinical pilates and in 2006/2007 undertook a research project in the management of stress incontinence in women. Kristen enjoys leading a multi modality clinic offering Osteopathy, Massage, Myotherapy and Pilates. In addition to working in private practice she enjoys mentoring the upcoming generation of Osteopaths at RMIT university as a supervising clinician in their student clinic.

Having a particular passion for women’s health, Kristen noticed a strong trend in treating women for recurrent back injuries and sprains, pelvic pain and pelvic floor issues. These women would respond well to treatment, however their complaints were recurrent. She felt strongly that if they had improved muscular support of the abdominals, their activities of daily living would be easier and they would experience less pain and dysfunction. Assessment of these women showed a strong correlation with having diastasis recti. Kristen went in search of the best practice treatment options and was drawn strongly to training with Julie Tupler to become a Tupler Technique licensee. Kristen is excited to be able to provide her patient’s with the Tupler Technique and to educate her pilates practitioners within her practice so that they can provide diastasis safe pilates classes.

Laura Schuwalow

Personal Trainer

Bayside suburbs of Melbourne

Australia

Laura Laura Schuwalow (B.Ed, LLB) has a life long involvement in sport and fitness.  Laura has been practicing the martial art of Shukokai Karate over the past 15 years and is currently a 2nd degree Black Belt, instructing junior and senior classes. Laura also competed in track and field athletics, cross country and road running races at state and national levels over a 12 year period winning many state running titles and numerous state and national placings.  Fitness, (through weight training, cross training, resistance training, running and martial arts) and healthy eating is a part of her every day life. A wealth of knowledge has been gained over many years of both structured professional pursuits and personal trial. Laura is a qualified secondary school teacher with a Bachelor of Education and Health Major. She also holds a Bachelor of Laws and has been lecturing and tutoring at University level in Business Law since 2000. As a mother to 4 girls, Laura was most conscious of her tummy.  She was determined to regain her waist and flat tummy following the birth of each of her children. However despite completing thousands of abdominal exercises including sit ups, incline sit ups, medicine ball sit ups and crunches, leg walks, leg pull ups, cable crunches etc, Laura was devastated to realise that her tummy only seemed to be in an even worse condition!  She was so frustrated but refused to accept that a flat toned tummy was no longer attainable.  Surrendering herself to radical and aggressive tummy tuck surgery was out of the question. Finally in November 2010 while searching the internet, Laura found reference to an exercise technique that claimed to heal a condition called Diastasis Recti - a separation of the abdominal muscles. Upon further investigation, Laura was convinced that she had a Diastasis and that the Tupler Technique® exercises were the answer she had been searching for. Laura immediatly enrolled in a series of private workshops and began to see results within 1 week! At the end of the 6 week program, she had lost an astonishing 5 inches from around her belly, had a flatter and toned tummy, improved overall posture and increased strength in her lower back. Laura found that these changes made such a difference to her everyday life and realised that the Tupler Technique® exercises were the missing link for those wishing to gain or regain a stronger abdominal region. The timing was perfect! Laura had been searching for a way to educate and empower women. Firstly through legal advice and then through the medium of martial arts but she could not find the 'perfect' thing. The Tupler Technique® was the perfect thing! And as it happened it could help men and children too. The natural progression was for Laura to become qualified to spread the word. In order to do this, she decided to approach Julie Tupler, a truly unique and inspirational lady, and become licensed in the Tupler Technique®.  Following an intensive home study period, Laura travelled to New York to train with Julie and satisfy the requirements for extensive written and practical exams.  Through 'Tummy Zip', Laura is excited to bring this ground-breaking exercise technique to the Bayside suburbs of Melbourne.

Anna Patricia Farago

Personal
Trainer

Asa North, Brasilia

Anna was certified as a Personal Trainer through CREF-DF DF ( regional council of physical education -DF) and has been working as a trainer since 2001. Passionate about sports, she always sought a balance between quality of life and fitness both for her students and herself. After the birth of her two children, even with all the abdominal exercises she did, she could not prevent getting a diastasis. She thought her only option was to do a tummy tuck to improve the appearance of her abdomen. Then she discovered the Tupler Technique®. After doing the program she was amazed that her belly looked great without having to undergo surgery and her back pain was gone! Her own experience with the program has motivated her to now want to help women, men and children who struggle with this condition.

Czech Republic

Andrea Cechurova

Personal Trainer

Prague,
Czech Republic

Andrea is a certified Personal Trainer and the only licenced provider of the Tupler Technique® in Central and Eastern Europe. As pregnant, Andrea was often in the gym doing planks and crunches and practicing yoga, believing that this is the way which would keep her in shape. After her child was born, she wanted to regain a flat tummy again and started doing lots of abdominal exercises including sit ups, crunches and planks. One year after giving birth she was still at the same weight as before pregnancy but she still looked pregnant. The tummy did not improve! Andrea was desperate and started searching what the problem could be and she realized that the problem is called Diastasis Recti. She had never heard about it and consulted the problem with her gynecologist, but was told that the plastic surgery is the only solution! It was absolutelly not an option for her, so she continued to search for other possibilities. Finally, one day she found the Tupler Technique®, which seemed to be the only option that could work. After she tried the technique, she lost 6 cm in her waist in just 6 weeks and regained an innie belly button. She was so excited, that despite her completely different profession she became a Personal Trainer, absolved the licensee training with Julie Tupler RN and finally became a Licensed provider of the Tupler Technique® in August 2015. Now she is ready to bring this amazing exercise technique to Czech Republic and help anyone with the Diastasis Recti.

England

Rachel Peirse

Personal Trainer

London,
England

Rachel is a qualified personal trainer (level3/REP registered) with a special interest in post-natal rehabilitation. After her second pregnancy, Rachel was unable to get rid of her "mummy tummy" even after her baby weight had disappeared.  She was doing regular exercise including crunches and cross over oblique exercises and her tummy was getting bigger. She was given conflicting and confusing advice and could not find an exercise programme specifically designed to help until she was introduced to the Tupler Technique® by an American friend. She was delighted by the results, losing 3 inches around her waist and achieving a 50% reduction in her diastasis in just 3 weeks. She found that the Tupler Technique® programme had not only healed her diastasis, but strengthened her pelvic floor, reduced her waist size and toned and flattened her stomach. Rachel is determined to help men and women like her feel strong and body confident again with a programme they could use for life. She trained with Julie in August 2011.

Katarina is a physical therapist, educated from the Physical Therapist School in Copenhagen 2007. Privately, she lives with her boyfriend Mario, and their son Alessio aged 1. Katarina is born and bred in Helsingborg, Sweden. Since childhood, Katarina has always loved training, and has played handball and floor ball (a type of floor hockey) on a very high level. She started experiencing great sciatica and lower back pain. After learning about the Tupler Technique®, Katarina figured that she has most likely always had a diastasis. Katarina has tried the Tupler Technique® on her own body and seen fantastic results. She feels stronger, more refined, and has better posture than ever before. It has been a big relief for Katarina to find a solution to the issues she has always had to deal with. She has realized that diastasis recti is a hidden problem, and that many women suffer in silence. Katarina is determined to spread the word and increase awareness about this hidden problem, so she can help others in the same situation as her former self.
