Don't just take our word for it – here are a few testimonials from satisfied customers:

As an obstetrician/gynecologist and being pregnant for the first time, I joined Julie Tupler's Maternal Fitness® class. Julie is a wonderful instructor, she is very patient, encouraging and has perfected her technique. The exercises were relatively easy to learn and they strengthened the abdominal muscles so well that each effort was maximized. I used the Tupler Technique® during my labor and the results were remarkable. I pushed for only 23 minutes! I would highly recommend any woman who is facing one of the most natural, wonderful and most challenging experiences of her life to learn the Julie Tupler technique.”

Diastasis recti is a condition that can affect anyone, regardless of gender. However, a lot of men are not aware that they can also suffer from this condition. Interestingly, all of us are born with a diastasis, whether we can see it or not. Here we will focus on the signs of Diastasis Recti in men and its causes and ways to treat and prevent the condition.

Tell tale Signs of Diastasis in Men

In men, a protruding belly and outie belly button are two telltale signs of diastasis recti. Thin men, in particular, may notice a bulge in their stomach area that isn't consistent with their body type. This bulge is caused by the internal organs pushing through the space between the recti muscles. Unfortunately, this can lead to a host of gastrointestinal problems, and discomfort.

The most common sign of Diastasis Recti among men is a protruding belly. This is because the internal organs are pressing through the space between the recti muscles, causing a bulge. In some cases, the belly button may also protrude, which is another indication of a diastasis. This bulge is especially noticeable when the person lies on the floor and lifts up their shoulders.

While anyone can have this kind of bulge, it is a lot more common in thin people. The diastasis might be mistaken for a chubby belly, but much to the person’s chagrin, it doesn’t go away with diet or general exercise.

What Causes Men to Have a Diastasis?

So what causes diastasis recti in men? One major culprit is doing crunches, which can actually worsen the condition by separating the recti muscles. Similarly, planks can also create intra-abdominal pressure that pushes against connective tissue, leading to a larger separation.

Another common cause of Diastasis Recti in men is the use of steroids for medical purposes like sports injuries. Steroids soften the connective tissue of the linea alba, which increases the likelihood of developing or exacerbating a diastasis. In addition, sports like tennis, golf, and swimming backstroke can cause or worsen diastasis recti. These activities require twisting of the torso, which can cause the recti muscles to further separate.

How to Treat and Prevent Diastasis Recti in Men

If you're dealing with diastasis recti, there's no need to give up on your six-pack dream altogether. Instead, aim for a non-separated six-pack. Fortunately, there are ways to treat and prevent Diastasis Recti in men. The Tupler Technique® is a core-strengthening method that can help treat abdominal separation in men, women, and children alike, leading to a flatter belly, a stronger back, and a smaller waist. The technique involves specific exercises that help to bring the separated recti muscles back together and strengthen the core.

So, to prevent Diastasis Recti, it is important to avoid exercises that can widen the separation between the recti muscles, such as crunches and planks. It is also important to be mindful of sports that require twisting motions of the torso, and to wear a splint while playing these sports to protect the recti muscles.

Lastly, while not a lot of people know about Diastasis Recti in men, it is a condition that affects many men. By understanding the signs and causes of Diastasis Recti and taking preventative measures, men can maintain a strong and healthy core.
